The Regulatory Reform ( Fire Safety Order) 2005 places specific duties on Employers, Businesses, and those who have some degree of responsibility for maintaining properties such as landlords, and managing Agents.
It’s not just about a piece of paper with a heading that says “ fire risk assessment”

All workplaces must appoint a responsible person to ensure that all applicable fire fighting arrangements are provided and maintained– who is your appointed responsible person– do they know their responsibilities
Specifically, the articles made under these regulations require specific things to be done, here is just a small extract of the main ones:-
- Duty to take general fire precautions
- Duty to carry out a fire risk assessment
- Provision of fire safety arrangements
- Provision of fire -fighting arrangements
- Emergency routes and exits
- Maintenance of systems
There are more such as arrangements for the control of contractors working on the
premises so far as their safety from fire is concerned.
