COVID-19 Workplace Risk Mapping

Introduction

Every day, we use mapping as a means of getting us from one place to another by the most direct route. Whether that be the map we follow in a car or indeed a risk map within your workplace.

COVID-19 has changed the way we socialise, the way we work and the way we think. Whilst the Government has produced a number of guidelines and rules to help protect the NHS and to restrict the spread of the virus, the ability to earn a living has been severely curtailed.

Clearly this situation has to be recognised and managed effectively, and that is exactly what we do here at Compass HSC. Risk mapping can be undertaken in any workplace or environment and it has been proven to be a very useful tool for highlighting hazards.

Through risk mapping the workplace we can identify solutions that help to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in your workplace.

It is an inclusive mechanism to help you get back up and running, and it is with your engagement and assistance that we can produce the best, safest and most cost-effective system.

Factors Considered

During the back to work COVID-19 mapping process, we look at a number of variables and how they relate from business to business and industry to industry.

  • The workplace
    • Its design, layout size, and facilities
  • Employees
    • Qty, Age, Gender
  • The work undertaken and what is involved with any internal or external interactions with others
  • Common work circulation areas such as kitchens, eating rooms changing rooms etc
  • The type of visitors that come to the premises

Establishing the above enables the best and most effective solutions to get you back to work safely and importantly, confidently.

Mapping Process

The mapping process involves a number of steps. This includes:

  1. Map of Workplace
    a. We draw a map of your workplace
  2. Mark high-risk areas
    a. We then mark-up high-risk area
  3. Identify Controls
    a. This stage involves identifying the controls required to control the transmission risk.
  4. Implement Controls
    a. Physical controls implemented along with changes required to Workflow
